In order to study the effects of moxibustion on renal edema induced by HgCl_₂administration from the histologic view point, the moxibustion was treated into the Sin-Soo loxus(VII_(23)), We-Soo locus (VII_(21)) and Sin-Soo+We-Soo loci, the repective and curative effectiveness on them was investigated by observing the kidney tubular cell swellings and vacuolar change in HgCl₂-induced acute renal failure in rats.
The results were obtained as follows;
1. Tubular cell swellings and vacuoles were sinificantly diminished at all three experimental groups(Sin-Soo, We-Soo, Sin-Soo+We-Soo) on the 7th day after moxibustion against control group.
2. The recovery from tubullar cell swellings in the case of We-Soo moxivustion on 7th day was best, being a little lower than that in Sin-Soo and Sin-Soo+We-Soo moxibustion groups, but it was even higher than control group.
3. The decreasing of vacuoles appeared in the case of We-Soo moxibustion best, Sin-Soo moxibustion group, Sin-Soo+We-Soo moxibustion group in the order named.
